Cycling
From the road, to gravel, to dirt
A journey that started on the road, moved through gravel, and these days has been taken over by mountain biking. Along the way cycling has built some of the most important relationships in my life, and carried me through some of the hardest stretches I have known.
Photography
In search of the overlooked
An ongoing attempt to take in what is right around us, the things we are otherwise inclined to walk past. Small, beautiful moments happen every day that the world tends to forget. The camera is just a good excuse to slow down enough to notice them.
Coaching
Shredhawks MTB
I help coach a youth mountain bike program out of Marshall. Tires, helmets, and the slightly chaotic joy of teaching teenagers how to corner. Easily one of the best things I do all year.
Travel
Local light, local culture
Whenever the calendar allows, my wife and I travel to experience local culture firsthand. Different rooms, different rhythms, the same curiosity that drives everything else.
Paddling
On the water, fully here
One of my favorite ways to spend a day. A collection of boats that keeps quietly growing, several canoes plus a surf ski for when I want a real challenge or a thrill. Paddling falls right in line with the photography for me, an attempt to be in touch with the simplicity and beauty of what is around us, and through that, with yourself. And a gift, in the end, from my dad, who raised me on the water.
